A Day At The Beach

So, the beach. Let’s think of some songs and quotes about that for a moment:

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside/Oh I do like to be beside the sea – That Beach Song

Steppin’ on the beach do do do dooo/Steppin’ on the beach droo doo do dooo – SpongeBob

Are you into that beach mood now? Beach body ready and all that shiz? Sun’s out guns out etc? Well, ready or not, uh, here’s some deets.

The Journey

So, it’s great to play at the beach, but you gotta get there first. You gotta travel. This time, the car was used. And a satnav. A really dodgy satnav. We could’ve got there a good 30 minutes earlier, but no, the satnav had to be an ass. But yeah, we got there in the end, My own sense of direction ain’t exactly great either. Things worked out in the end, though.

Snacks

Destination reached. Mission achieved. Now, food. Homemade sandwiches, crisps, a cheese and onion roll, veggie sausages and veggie scotch eggs. Nice. Now, a short break for the good stuff to go down before the big event.

Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming

Gotta agree with Dory on this one. I did indeed just keep swimming. For two hours, no less. And none of that weenie wetsuit stuff, I’ll have you know. Just the standard swimming outfit. And hat. You don’t want that head to get burned in the hot weather, especially if it’s got no hair on it, like, uh…mine. WOOO. Anyway, no significant sunburn received.

Rain 🙁

Unfortunately, the last bit of the trip put a bit of a damper on things, as things got slightly wet. Or, damp, one might say. We managed to pick up an ice cream in time, but no fish and chips like we planned (no matter, we got a fish and chip takeaway at home. All good). And my feet got a bit wrecked as they got cut on stones. Nevermind, as Leonard Cohen might say.

Journey Back

Slightly smoother than the journey there, despite the rain. Music listened to on headphones, plus an amusing Adam Buxton podcast with Joe Lycett. Cool.
