Recovery Films ‘n’ Stuff 2

Another day, another awkward procedure kinda thing. But yeah, here are a few things I got up to in between times.

Watched The Bikeriders

Well, this is the first thing I’ve seen Tom Hardy in for a while. And Austin Butler‘s in here too, hot off the heals of Dune Part 2. Plus Jodie Comer. So, essentially, plenty of rizz on display. Tom Hardy’s lead biker guy says he was inspired to create the biker group by Marlin Brando, although his hammy accent and performance could use a bit of oil (see what I did there, hm?). The film has a vaguely similar plot framing to Hardy double-act Legend, with the female love interest providing some expository voiceover to ease us into the story.

Butler’s pretty good at the strong silent type role and Comer does what she can with a meagre screen time, but this one’s ultimately a bit of a crash. Not a crash in the sense of blowing up on Mario Kart (press that button too early at the start of the race and you’re going up in flames), but more of a disappointing crash into a wall. If you’ve, uh, played any Mario Kart games, you’ll catch my drift (Mario Kart pun intended).

Ate Lots of Unhealthy Food

Bagels, waffles, scotch pancakes, you name it. For this type of procedure, you’re actively encouraged to eat this stuff. And eat this stuff I did. Even if the report came back with feedback saying I’d still prepared poorly (fuck you, report). Anyway, the procedure went fine.

Rewatched Terminator 2: Judgement Day

I’ve seen this multiple times, but it is a classic, and was definitely worth yet another viewing. A great action film with great set pieces and a plot that’s compelling but not over-complicated. Oh, and if you want to see the evil terminator in another film, then watch Wayne’s World. Sure, he’s only there in a cameo role for a few seconds, but it’s good fun. And Wayne’s World is excellent, so there’s that too.
