So…let’s a-go.

Best film – Drama

Yep, I guess Spielberg was likely to win this one. And I guess that Avatar: The Way of Water had to be on the nominee list too. ‘Cause, you know, big visuals deserve big credit, right? But, on that subject, The Northman and Nope definitely should’ve got a look-in. Not that they were going to, because they’re not the kind of award darlings that voters go for.

Best film – Musical or Comedy

I did really enjoy Glass Onion and Everywhere All at Once, but I think they got it right with this one. Bansheeswas a great film, and Farrell and Gleeson put in great performances. Nobody does sad face like Colin Farrell. And I would’ve given an award to the donkey too, although I’m aware that Best Animal Performer isn’t a category yet.

Best TV Series – Drama

This is some fine bullshit right here. Admittedly, I haven’t finished House of the Dragon yet, but Better Call Saul’s final season was a masterfully crafted work of genius. Great acting, great cinematography, great writing, great everything. Better Call Saul got done dirty. Also, Severance deserved that award over HotD too (even though I haven’t finished watching it). Severance introduced some really interesting ideas, and it also wasn’t a piggyback series that relied on the prestige of its original and special effects. But yeah, Better Call Saul deserved that award, and it’s an injustice that it didn’t get what it deserved. S’all bad, man.

Best TV Series – Musical or Comedy

So yeah, I haven’t got round to watching a single one of these yet, and therefore can’t give an opinion. That’s all, folks.

Best Limited Series, Anthology Series

The only one of these I’ve watch is Pam and Tommy, and that was…something. I really need to watch The White Lotus though, I’ve heard good things about it.

Best Actor in a TV Series – Drama

Again, more injustice here. Bob Odenkirk deserved that award for Better Call Saul, and he got robbed. No, I haven’t seen Yellowstone, but I know Bob Odenkirk deserved that award. To echo the sentiments of Mark Wahlberg’s Terry Hoitz in The Other Guys, I call bullshit on that. Bob Odenkirk is a peacock, and you gotta let him fly (if you don’t understand or appreciate those Other Guys references, then you need to watch The Other Guys). Jeff Bridges was kind of meh in The Old Man, Diego Luna was pretty good in Andor, and Adam Scott was very good in Severance, but the big award should’ve gone to Odenkirk. I rest my case.

Best Actress in a TV Series – Drama

So, Rhea Seehorn won the award, right? She at least got nominated, right? Nope. This is utter horseshiz of the highest level. One of the greatest actresses I’ve ever witnessed on screen doesn’t even get a nomination. I can only articulate my pure, unbridled rage and disappointment through memes.

Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie

Well, Pam and Tommy is the only one I’ve seen from this category, so I haven’t really got the viewing range to give an opinion on this one.

Best Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie

Remember my description of the category above? Same deal.

Best Supporting Actress in a Limited TV Series

Yeah, I need to watch The White Lotus. Anyway, same as above.

Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series

You guessed it, same as above. This is fun, isn’t it?

Best Screenplay

Okay, I can finally weigh in a bit here. Like Best Film, I was expecting Spielberg to get this award, although I did want Banshees to win. And I generally wanted Living to get a bit more love in this category and across the board, but I guess not.

Best Non-English Language Film

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any of these yet, so I need to get round to them soon, particularly Decision to Leave. Moving on…

Best Actress – Drama

Although Blonde got ripped apart by a lot of critics, Ana de Armas’ performance was fantastic, and she deserved a win. Sadly, ‘twas not to be.

Best Actress – Musical or Comedy

You go Michelle Yeoh Yeoh (Mean Girl fans, you’re welcome)! A brilliant actress at the top of her game, very well deserved.

Best Actor – Drama

Daniel Kaluuya definitely deserved a nomination for Nope here, as did Alexander Skarsgård for The Northman, but the major film awards never seem to be too big on taciturn performances. More fool them.

Best Actor – Musical or Comedy

Daniel Craig and his foghorn leghorn schtick were very entertaining, as was Adam Driver’s typical deadpan humour, but Colin Farrell got a deserved win on this one. Sad face ftw!

Best Supporting Actor

Ke Huy Quan is a deserved win here, but Barry Keoghan deserves a big shout out for his poignant, parred down performance in Banshees, doing a lot with very little.

Best Supporting Actress

Anya Taylor-Joy at least deserved a nomination here for The Northman. Sure, you could argue that her presence in the film is fairly minimal, but if you’ve got room for Barry Keoghan in the Best Supporting Actor Category, then you’ve got room for Taylor-Joy here.

Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series

Yep, I haven’t seen any of these nominations. Onwards.

Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series

John Tuturro put in a powerful performance in Severence, so it’s kind of disappointing not to see him get the win here. Also, there was a lot of potential here for either Patrick Fabien or Tony Dalton to get nominations here for their phenomenal roles as Howard and Lalo in Better Call Saul, but they sadly don’t get a mention.

Best Original Score

I would’ve preferred Carter Burwell to get the win here for Banshees, but, you know, I like my minimalist soundtracks. The Northman had some great tunes in it too, but it doesn’t get a look in.

Best Original Song

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen (heard?) enough of these ones to comment.
